Installing irrigation systems in private residences, as well as in commercial spaces can bring a host of practical and aesthetic benefits. One is the ease of maintenance of lawns and other vegetation. Irrigation that uses automated sprinkler systems, for example, takes away the burden of having to manually water plants, trees, shrubs, and other greenery. It’s possible to set the sprinklers to activate at specific time, like in the early morning or late afternoon.Another benefit is lower water bills since automated irrigation systems make effective use of water. Over time, you will see the significant difference between manual irrigation and an automated one in terms of the amount that you have to pay. An irrigation system also provides water supply to vegetation in small increments over an extended period – a process that promotes optimum growth of plants.

IRRIGATION SYSTEMS APPLICATION
Different irrigation systems render specific benefits. Each type of irrigation is used in specific landscapes, so it’s a must to know the benefits and application of each system. Accordingly, these are the most common and their specific use:
- Drip – Ideal for vineyards and orchards. Drip irrigation targets the roots of plants and crops and is considered as the most water-efficient system in wide use. This type requires professional installation to ensure its efficiency.
- Ditch – This traditional method involves ditches from which the water supply flows into furrows or canals placed between plant rows. This is ideal for vegetable gardens and in areas where commercial crops are grown.
- Center pivot – This type of irrigation is composed of aluminum or steel pipes that are joined together. They are supported by trusses and are installed on towers with wheels for transportation. The attached sprinklers move in a circular manner, and they run the length of the towers. The system is great for use in lands planted with commercial crops.
- Sprinkler – This system involves sprinklers, guns, or sprays installed on risers, with some types buried underground with sprinklers that pop up. This system is popular in public parks and golf courses, as well as in residential lawns.
- Rotary – If you have a large expanse of vegetation that must be watered effectively, then consider using this system. The rotary system can provide water supply over great distances over a long period. It is ideal for large private lawns, commercial parks, golf courses, and similar large areas.
