Paver Tools OVERVIEW

The success of any paving project depends on the people working on it and the tools and equipment used. As it is, both ‘man and machine’ must be appropriate for the job at hand if you are to expect positive results. So whether it is a DIY job or performed by a contractor, it is very important to use appropriate paver tools when carrying out various paving installation tasks. Whether you’re using hand tools or power tools, you should always keep in mind to check if you’re holding the right tool for your specific paving project.

Different paver tools are meant for different paving tasks. For example, power tools, such as power saws and hydraulic splitters, are required to cut thick and sturdy stone pavers with accuracy. If you need to achieve clean-cut pavers at a fast pace, then power tools are what you need. Meanwhile, hand splitters, chisels, lump hammers and other hand tools are used when a natural look is desired. These tools are also ideal for projects that require creating highly intricate designs or detailed features. However, using hand tools can be considered laborious and is not advised if you’re aiming for timely and fast completion of paving projects, such as driveways and patios.

In short, you should really determine the results that you need and the time that you have for your specific paving project. These would tell you which paver tools are ideal for the tasks at hand. For effortless trimming and cutting within limited time, go for power tools; for splitting and trimming pavers that require intricate details, hand tools are perfect.

PAVER Tools APPLICATIONS

Paver tools are used in the different paving installation tasks, such as splitting, trimming, and cutting. They are also used to carve intricate details into the pavers according to specifications. Tools used specifically for pavers are generally classified into two – power tools and hand tools.

Power Tools

These tools are ideal for pavers, such as marble, granite, and other paving options that are inherently hard to cut, trim, or split (although they can also be used to cut clay pavers). They are best used in projects that require efficient use of time, with minimal hours to complete (such as working on wet cast and pressed concrete flags). Power tools are precision machines that most landscaping contractors and DIY enthusiasts use. However, extra precautions must be observed to avoid accidents. Power tool users must always use safety goggles, hard hat, gloves, protective footwear, and high visibility jackets.

Hand Tools

Clay and limestone pavers, being relatively soft pavers, are the kinds of materials that you can use hand tools for with ease. But being versatile tools, hand tools can also be used for natural stone pavers. These are recommended if you’re trying to create intricate designs or natural appeal on your paving projects.
